Provide support to the Engineering Department through the management and maintenance of various enterprise-level systems. This role involves administrative and project-based assistance as needed. The ideal candidate will be detailed, have experience keeping large amounts of data organized and accurate, and be able to work independently.

The Barge Operations Supervisor will be responsible for all Tankerman activities, training, transfer inspections, audits, evaluations, and assignments.
Maintain the vessel's engine room and equipment in a state of readiness to perform work for customers as needed. Perform start up and shut down, troubleshooting, and heavy maintenance of vessel power and propulsion systems. This job includes pulling heavy lines and hoses, working on oil and cargo barges, general vessel maintenance, and other tasks that may be assigned from time to time. Perform work as directed by Captain and/or Mate of vessel and Port Engineers.
Working closely with the AP Manager, leads and directs AP staff in the timely and accurate processing of payments, across a variety of disbursement workflows, ensuring documented approvals per company policy, and accurate recording. Disbursement workflows include PO and non-PO processing via Coupa and MS Dynamics (Great Plains), vendor ACH debits, vendor portal payments, credit card payments, and wires. The lead also assists with month-end closing procedures including AP accruals and other duties as assigned.
Perform routine maintenance requirements on a fleet of tugs and barges as directed by the General Manager/Port Engineer. Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures. Work with company mechanics as needed.

Schedule and coordinate flow of oil work. Schedule barge deliveries to ships and terminals in the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports. Select and schedule crews for barges. Maintains records, documents and prepares bills for services. May notify Tankerman order changes via telephone or radio. May dispatch crews to barges in response to emergency requests from captains or management. Track company and crew performance and activities.

Responsible for all aspects of terminal operations including, but not limited to, the safe and efficient transfer of petroleum products between barges, ships, tanks, trucks and railcars. Creating and submitting of reports to all levels of management within the company as well as to external vendors and customers.

Responsible for the safe transportation of the assigned barge(s) and for the safety of the cargo, vessel(s) and crew. Responsible for safe docking of ships, (when applicable). Required to perform administrative and supervisory functions. Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of tug and barge.
Acts as second in command of the tug and barge. Must be able to understand and carry out the orders and directions of the Captain. Must be prepared to assume command in the event of incapacity of the Captain. Responsible for safely making and breaking tow with barges, handling lines and wires. Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of the vessel.
