Overview

Oversee and execute engineering projects related to our tugs and barges at Centerline Atlantic. Ensuring operational excellence, safety, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of engineering projects, from conception and design to execution, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk assessments.
  • Keep records of maintenance performed, hours used, fuel burned, and report to different funding agencies.
  • Track actual costs of repair and projects against budget.
  • Schedule routine maintenance of tugs and barges.
  • Manage oil analysis program
  • Review all vessel documentation and drawings and upload the Portal accordingly with up-to-date documents.
  • Assist with shipyard bids, purchase orders and vessel projects.
  • Maintain project documentation, contracts, and shipyard work.
  • Assist with project plans by reviewing specifications and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
  • Work with E-Maintenance on Vessel Repair and Maintenance Program.
  • Effectively communicate with the Engineering team, internal and external departments, vendors and customers.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience on tugs, tankers, oil barges or equivalent military experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the maritime industry, ten + (10) years preferred.
  • Four year college education in Maritime field, related studies or have (5) years of experience as engineer on tugs, or other sea going motorized vessels.
  • S. Coast Guard license on a Merchant Mariner’s Document strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of oil transportation and marine industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of tugs and barge maintenance systems and equipment.
  • Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project
  • Working knowledge of management theories and practices.
  • Ability to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
  • Professional appearance and telephone manner is essential.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over telephone.
  • Valid State drivers' license.
  • Valid TWIC or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Job Condition and Environment

  • Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.
  • May be required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
  • Must have reliable transportation.
