Overview

The Dispatch Manager is responsible for managing the dispatch operations involving bunkering and marine fuel transportation services for Olympic Tug & Barge, Inc., Centerline Gulf, LLC and Centerline Atlantic, Inc.  The position’s primary accountabilities include managing and promoting strong customer relationships, scheduling and coordinating the flow of work based on the customer requirements with company personnel, equipment and resources, and the general management of the dispatch support team.

Responsibilities

  1. Maintaining positive customer relationships through the on watch dispatch
    • Ensure accurate customer morning reports
    • Ensure timely responses
    • Mitigating and communicating delays
  2. Cost reduction
    • Increase efficiency and reduce redundancy
    • Maintain vendor relationships for advantageous contracts (assist tugs, moorage, etc)
    • Utilizing CLL equipment for assists and escorts
    • Being cognizant of fuel, moorage, etc costs
  3. Managing dispatchers
    • Mentoring dispatching for improved performance (to accomplish items 1 and 2 above)
    • Holding dispatchers accountable for lacking performance or behavior
  4. Other duties:
    • Review and communicate relevant information from new contracts to sales and dispatch team
    • Ensure job input accuracy with customer database such as POs
    • Act as liaison between customers and operations
    • Develop policies, programs, and procedures for marine transportation, including schedules, assignment of personnel and equipment, and other dispatch operations.
    • Customer visits as needed, including some out of state traveling

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the local (East, West and Gulf Coasts and Harbors) operating areas.
  • Four (4) year college education in Maritime or related studies; or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible fleet management in the logistics industry.
  • Two (2) years of increasing responsibility and large team management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of tugboat and oil transportation industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive materials and communications.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
  • Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to interface with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.
  • Valid TWIC or obtain upon hire.

Job Condition and Environment

  • Work is performed in environments ranging from outside to inside, noisy to quiet, as well as in normal office environments. Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement. Weekends, holidays, frequent travel on short notice and long hours are worked as needed.
  • Required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Infrequent light physical effort required
  • Work with computers, telephones, copiers.
  • This position is expected to work out of our Channelview, TX office however other office locations based in Seattle, WA, San Pedro, CA, Alameda, CA and Bayonne, NJ will be considered. 

Expected Hours of Work

  • Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m. Evening, weekend and holiday work may be required as job duties demand.
