Overview

Manages all aspects of the accounting teams.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, plans, and manages the accounts payable, accounts receivable and purchasing team.
  • Manages timely monthly and annual closing process.
  • Hires, trains, and develops accounting staff to meet department goals.
  • Understands customer contracts and reviews billing for completeness and accuracy.
  • Documents and evaluates processes to ensure good internal controls and SOX compliance.
  • Performs financial analysis and assists with the preparation of financial plans and budgets.
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
  • Responsible for communicating correct coding for purchase requisitions to operations.
  • Assists in analyzing, interpreting and communicating taxes, cost and expense variances to management.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five years of proven experience managing and developing accounting staff.
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.
  • Ability to lead by example and assist in daily AP/AR duties if department demands.
  • Excellent communication and customer service.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimal or no supervision.
  • Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
  • Assertive individual capable of achieving results while maintaining diplomacy and tact.
  • Problem solver who enjoys process improvement.
  • Flexible team player who can adjust to ongoing changes related to company growth.
  • Versatile communicator with the ability to interact with different personalities.

Job Condition and Environment

  • Required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Infrequent light physical effort required.
  • Work with computers, fax machines, copiers, telephones.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • May be required to work overtime based on the department demands and goals.
