Overview

General helpdesk and administrative support duties for the IT department.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintaining desktop and laptop machines.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving user issues (hardware and software).
  • Provisioning laptops and computers for new employees.
  • Respond, log and track support tickets into the ticketing system.
  • Assist users in resolving equipment and software problems through discussion and diagnosis.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware failures and take steps to remedy problem(s).
  • Setup, repair, and maintain workstation computers and related equipment. (Setup new users, software, and hardware updates, etc.)
  • Installation and upgrade of software applications.
  • Provides on-site support, equipment and technical services for staff and organization events. (Audio/Visual, Computer, Network, etc.).
  • Escalate complex tickets to upper level support team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A+ Certification preferred.
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related field preferred.
  • Two years of corporate help-desk experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in computer and networking hardware setup and installation preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in business user support for hardware and application issues preferred.
  • Experience with backup systems administration preferred.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work with others using professionalism, and good judgment.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently or with no guidance.
  • Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crew members.
  • Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain TWIC upon hire.

Job Condition and Environment

  • May be required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Infrequent light physical effort required.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Normal office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday
  • May be required to travel domestically.
