The IT department maintains hardware, software and equipment for over 750 employees and over 150 vessels. The Director of IT is responsible for overseeing and managing the Company’s information technology (IT) operations; overseeing the IT support staff; ensuring maintenance of hardware and application software; planning and overseeing of projects and budgets.  


  • Oversee IT support department staff including personnel training and development.
  • Analyze complex infrastructure issues such as systems networking, voice and data convergence, and systems support to improve operational efficiency and reduce operating costs. Develop, recommend, and implement ideas and projects that improve functions in these areas. Provide or oversee emergency problem solving as necessary.
  • Monitor the timely completion of help-desk tickets by IT staff. Respond to off-hour support tickets of emergency nature.
  • Establish standards and procedures to ensure the technical team works in a consistent manner. This includes creating and maintaining technical documentation on internal infrastructure.
  • Work with external vendors to support hardware and software. Establish strong partnerships with vendors and set clear expectations.
  • Negotiate access agreements, establish service level agreements and ensure contracts are in place to support the services provided by the infrastructure team.
  • Develop and maintain emergency plans to address equipment, power, or security failure to ensure preservation of technology and data.
  • Manage departmental budget and track spending on equipment and software
  • Use technology to move the business forward and lay out a strategy that upper-level management will understand and support. Understand how technology relates to the goals of the department and larger organization.


  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of project planning, development and evaluation as well as the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Must possess the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Progressive leadership experience in a medium or large organization preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, MBA with technology-related emphasis preferred
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in information technology strongly preferred
  • Two (2) plus years of leadership or managerial experience strongly preferred
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Experience with Coupa, MS Windows, Sharepoint, Okta and SalesForce is a plus.

Job Condition and Environment

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk
  • Occasional travel may be required

Expected Hours of Work

  • Normal office hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday
  • Due to global nature of the company and scope of the role, duties may require being available periodically outside of normal working hours
